Our
Literature Division has also, over the last few years, developed
into a special spot for writers, making the Akademie not only a
venue for workshops, but also a forum for ideas and contacts.
Our image has been honed by our four focal points: "Literary
Workshops", "Media and the Market", "The Familiar and the Foreign",
as well as "Seminars". Each contains not only a range of literary
offerings, but also contacts to journalists or translation services.
Our scope is multi-facetted: we offer seminars on literary science
fiction, issues on the poetic qualities of a poem, literary
criticism and the basics of journalism. On an international stage,
our “Wolfenbüttel Translators" Discussions” have been inspiring the
trade for years and is now acknowledged as a source of answers on
all aspects of literary translation.
Our range of offerings is rounded off by numerous co-operational
agreements. The pinnacle of this is our writers" grant, which is
provided in tandem with Stiftung Niedersachsen.
A number of our activities are documented in publications in the
"Wolfenbütteler Akademie-Texte" series, such as "Harry Potter, or
Why We Need Magic" (2000), "How to Get What"s in your Mind"s Eye on
Paper" (2005) and "Half-Way House" (2004 and 2006).
